Welcome to the site of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's Formula SAE team! The competition will be moving to Lincoln, NE in June of 2012 and UNL will be competing for the first time.
In early 2011, a small band of engineering students gathered to discuss the formation of what would become the University of Nebraska’s Formula SAE racing team…Husker Motorsports. With news of the FSAE West competition moving to Lincoln, Nebraska in 2012 and with no current Formula program at the College of Engineering, action had to be commenced, rapidly. After discussions about starting a brand new Formula SAE team with faculty in the Mechanical Engineering department, key advisors were motivated to start the program. After large quantities of emails came pouring in from interested and passionate students, there was a sense of success starting a brand new team. Many conversations with the Interim Chair concluded in having a Faculty Advisor for the team. After choosing team leaders for the Chassis, Suspension, Power train, Brakes, and Business groups, the foundation of the team was complete.
With over forty students as team members, five group leaders, a technical leader and a faculty advisor, Husker Motorsports has grown rapidly in a short amount of time. Our team encompasses student members from nearly every engineering discipline, as well as several different majors including business, marketing, and other areas of study. We strive to become a driving force in the College of Engineering for students seeking to apply the skills learned in the classroom to real world applications.
Our team is in the works of research, design, manufacturing and testing UNL’s first Formula racecar. With over 250 universities from all around the nation and world planning to compete in our backyard in 2012, we hope to grow Husker Motorsports into a competitive team and represent the University of Nebraska for the years to come.
Passion. Pride. Performance.
President 2011-2012, Husker Motorsports
